a method used to find out defects and faults in materials and structures in
order to avoid catastrophic damage.

In this
method, materials/structures are examined without sustaining any damage and
they remain in their original condition.

Destructive testing utilizes various available techniques to analyze the
condition of materials without affecting their properties.
Non-Destructive
Testing Facility at Louisiana State University

This
Lab is capable of testing structures, bridges, roadways, pressure vessels,
pipelines, composite materials, foams, natural materials and other
specialized materials non-destructively.
§
It is a
scientific as well as a technical center where new and improved methods are
developed and problems are solved.
§
This
Laboratory/Facility is established in collaboration with Louisiana State
University and Southern University.
§
The NDE
facility provides consulting to local industry.
