Application to Sprays and
Internal Flows
This laboratory includes a fully equipped single-fluid and binary-fluid
(liquid-gas) spray characterization facility, as well as an
electrostatic atomization test facility. The lab also features
unique, Exact Index of Refraction Matching (EIRM) capabilites
which permit undistorted, non-intrusive, optical and light-scattering
measurements of water flows in complex internal geometries.
The laboratory is equipped with a multicomponent Phase-Doppler
Velocimetry and Particle Size Analysis (PDV&PSA) system
including customized phase discrimination capabilities, a Digital
Particle Image Velocimetry (DPIV) system, a High Speed Digital
Video and Image Processing (HSDV&IP) system capable of up
to 1000fps, a Laser Interferometry Skin Friction (LISF) measurement
system, an Ultra High Resolution Digital Photography (UHRDP)
system and computer-driven data acquisition with multipoint
temperature measurement capabilities and traversing systems.
